2023 Audi Q7 Review

Overview
Luxurious interior. Tech-savvy features. Powerful engines.
Cramped third row. Low on cargo room. Lackluster fuel economy.
The Audi Q7 offers three rows of seating in a beautiful, tech-forward SUV. Standard all-wheel drive, crisp handling, and responsive engines make it a great choice for driving enthusiasts, but the third row is narrow, and there isn't much cargo room.
What's New for 2023
Trims and Pricing
The 2023 Audi Q7 is available in three trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. The Premium Plus is the most popular trim, and it's our recommendation as well. We'll explain why.
Premium
The base Premium starts at $58,695 (including a $1,195 destination fee) with standard all-wheel drive and a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Features include leather seats, heated eight-way power-adjustable front seats, wood trim, a 10-speaker audio system, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot warning. Optional features include the Black Optic appearance package, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, ambient lighting, wireless charging, and a 3.0-liter V6 engine.
Premium Plus
Priced at $63,395, the basic Premium Plus trim adds ambient lighting, wireless charging, an around-view camera, and a 19-speaker Bose audio system. It also includes lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and traffic jam assist. Options include heated and ventilated 12-way power-adjustable front seats, heated rear seats and steering wheel, four-zone automatic climate control, adaptive air suspension, and the 3.0-liter V6 engine.
The Premium Plus is our recommended trim. It adds luxurious comfort features and an upgraded camera that eases parking in tight spots.
Prestige
Pricing for the top trim starts at $74,495 and features a standard 3.0-liter V6 engine, 20-inch wheels, heated and ventilated 12-way power-adjustable front seats, adjustable ambient lighting, and adaptive air suspension. Options include front night vision with animal and pedestrian detection, a premium 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, and 18-way power-adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage.
Engine and Performance
The base engine in the Q7 is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 261 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The responsive engine makes it easy to forget this is a three-row SUV. Handling is crisp and sporty, but it won't tax the driver on long road trips.
The available 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder delivers 335 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque for an even higher level of performance. It travels from zero to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, which is quick for a vehicle of its size. Shoppers who crave real performance from their family hauler will be happy with this engine.
The Q7's performance will satisfy most driving enthusiasts, but there are other options if you want a bit more oomph. The Audi SQ7 delivers a whopping 500 hp. The Volvo XC90 provides a plug-in hybrid option for better fuel efficiency.
Fuel Economy
Interior
The Audi Q7's interior is focused on luxury. Rich leather trims, wood accents, and available faux suede create an upscale impression. Front seats are supportive and supremely plush, coddling passengers and making even long trips easy. Second-row passengers are treated to a luxury experience with available heated seats and enough room for 6-footers. While the third row has the same high-quality materials, it doesn't have the same level of comfort. The seats are stiff and too confining for most adults. Accessing those seats is also tricky, making this the territory of kids or shorter adults.
For cargo, there's 14.2 cubic feet behind the third row, 35.7 cubic feet behind the second row, and 69.6 cubic feet behind the first row. The Q7 perfectly suits families who want a plush, luxury experience with room for cargo and will only occasionally use the third row.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Safety
The 2023 Audi Q7 has not yet been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, active lane control, blind-spot monitors, front and rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver attention monitor. Available features include a front night-vision camera with pedestrian and animal detection, intersection assist, a surround-view camera, and traffic sign recognition.
Audi Q7 vs. the Competition
The Audi Q7 SUV is full of creature comforts. Plush seats, rich leather trims, and a quiet interior make it ideal for families to get comfortable and relax. A choice of powerful engines makes it enjoyable for those who want the driving dynamics of a sedan. A wide range of advanced safety features and a high-tech infotainment system with a digital instrument cluster gives the Q7 an almost futuristic aesthetic. The BMW X5 offers more powerful engines, while the Volvo XC90 has a more efficient plug-in hybrid. The Mercedes-Benz GLE is a luxury standout, especially in its top trim. But the Audi Q7 offers a combination of power and luxury at a more affordable price.
