2024 Audi Q7 Review

Overview
The 2024 Audi Q7 is a true luxury three-row SUV. By that, we mean it has high-quality materials and a comfortable ride, and that it comes standard with three rows of seats. The distinctive thing about the Q7 is its size. It isn't as large as a full-size three-row SUV like the BMW X7 or Mercedes-Benz GLS. Instead, think of the Q7 as a sleek crossover that just happens to hold seven people.
That's a good thing on the road. The Q7 feels composed and even nimble behind the wheel. It's an excellent companion on road trips, where the suspension can settle in for a cushioned ride, and passengers can enjoy the rich accommodations. On the other hand, the midsize shape means it lacks the spaciousness and cargo room of some competitors.
This version of the Q7 debuted in 2017, which makes it among the older vehicles in the three-row SUV class. You may notice its age, particularly in the styling, which is classy but understated compared with newer rivals, and in its selection of engines. Both the smaller four-cylinder and larger six-cylinder motors provide decent power. However, some other luxury SUVs offer more driving excitement and better fuel economy.
Audi issued several updates to the 2024 Q7 that help keep it near the top of the pack in our recommendations. Still, it's tempting to spend similar money on a larger, more modern competitor like the X7 or GLS.
Standard all-wheel drive. Strong value in the luxury class. Feels great to drive.
Design is several years old. Limited passenger and cargo space. Fuel economy is unimpressive.
With standard all-wheel drive and seating for seven, the 2024 Audi Q7 is an adept all-arounder for its price. Some competitors may be more modern, but that doesn't diminish the luxury SUV's attractiveness.
What's New for 2024
Adaptive cruise assist, which combines adaptive cruise control and automatic lane-centering in certain situations on the highway, is newly included on all 2024 Audi Q7 models. The base Premium level is available with an optional Executive package, which includes traffic sign recognition for the first time. One step up, the Premium Plus model comes standard with multicolor ambient LED lighting.
Finally, the top Prestige trim can be optioned with an S line sport package. It includes exterior style upgrades such as 21-inch wheels, black badges and roof rails, and performance enhancements like all-wheel steering and sport adaptive suspension. Inside, the S line comes with front S sport seats, leather surfacing with diamond stitching, and a black cloth headliner. Two separate options let you equip the Q7 Prestige with HD Matrix-design LED headlights with Audi laser light and, on the inside, a faux-suede headliner.
Trims and Pricing
The 2024 Audi Q7 is available in three trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. The Premium Plus is the most popular trim, and it's our recommendation as well. We'll explain why.
Premium
The Premium starts at $60,695 (including a $1,195 destination fee) with standard all-wheel drive and a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Features include leather seats, heated eight-way power-adjustable front seats, wood trim, a 10-speaker audio system, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot warning. Optional features include the Black Optic appearance package, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, ambient lighting, wireless charging, and a 3.0-liter V6 engine.
Premium Plus
Priced at $64,495, the Premium Plus adds ambient lighting, wireless charging, an around-view camera, and a 19-speaker Bose audio system. It also includes lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and traffic jam assist. Options include the 3.0-liter V6 engine, adaptive air suspension, heated and ventilated 12-way power-adjustable front seats, heated rear seats and steering wheel, and automatic four-zone climate control.
The Premium Plus is our recommended trim. It adds luxurious comfort features and an upgraded camera that eases parking in tight spots.
Prestige
Pricing for the top trim starts at $74,495 and features a standard 3.0-liter V6 engine, 20-inch wheels, heated and ventilated 12-way power-adjustable front seats, adjustable ambient lighting, and adaptive air suspension. Options include front night vision with animal and pedestrian detection, a premium 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, and 18-way power-adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage.
Engine and Performance
The base engine in the Q7 is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 261 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The responsive engine makes it easy to forget this is a three-row SUV. Handling is crisp and sporty, but it won't tax the driver on long road trips.
The available 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder delivers 335 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque for an even higher level of performance. It travels from zero to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, which is quick for a vehicle of its size. Shoppers who crave real performance from their family hauler will be happy with this engine.
The Q7's performance will satisfy most driving enthusiasts, but there are other options if you want a bit more oomph. The Audi SQ7 delivers a whopping 500 hp. The Volvo XC90 provides a plug-in hybrid option for better fuel efficiency.
Fuel Economy
Interior
The Audi Q7's interior is focused on luxury. Rich leather trims, wood accents, and available faux suede create an upscale impression. Front seats are supportive and supremely plush, coddling passengers and making even long trips easy. Second-row passengers are treated to a luxury experience with available heated seats and enough room for 6-footers. While the third row has the same high-quality materials, it doesn't have the same level of comfort. The seats are stiff and too confining for most adults. Accessing those seats is also tricky, making this the territory of kids or shorter adults.
For cargo, there's 14.2 cubic feet behind the third row, 35.7 cubic feet behind the second row, and 69.6 cubic feet behind the first row. The competitive BMW X7 has more space, providing 12.8, 48.6, and 90.4 cubic feet in those same three areas.
In all, the Q7 perfectly suits families who want a plush, luxury experience with room for cargo and who will only occasionally use the third row.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Safety
The 2024 Audi Q7 received a top five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not yet rated the 2024 model, but it gave the very similar 2023 Q7 its highest award of Good in all crashworthiness tests.
Standard safety features in the 2024 Q7 include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, active lane control, blind-spot monitors, front and rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver attention monitor. Available features include a front night-vision camera with pedestrian and animal detection, intersection assist, a surround-view camera and traffic sign recognition.
Audi Q7 vs. the Competition
The BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS have both been refreshed more recently than the Audi Q7. They have more modern technology features and flashier styling, but are also more expensive. We also recommend looking at the Acura MDX or Volvo XC90, which have a lower cost of entry, plus three rows of seats as standard. If you like the Q7 but are looking for a little more excitement, the 500-horsepower Audi SQ7 may be just the thing.

The Starting Market Average is a proprietary mathematical calculation based on actual recent transactions. It provides a statistically accurate understanding of what other buyers are paying for the least expensive configuration of this vehicle. Adjustments to the calculation beyond make, model, and trim are normalized based on detailed, anonymized transaction information. This accounts for the fact that most or all recently-sold vehicles included different option combinations. The data underlying the Starting Market Average calculation are filtered for extreme outliers and subjected to a weighted averaging process that considers factors such as the recency of transactions and the timing of data lags. In certain instances, the calculated result is adjusted to take account of abrupt changes in the market that may not yet be fully reflected by recent transaction prices. In all cases where the Starting Market Average is shown there is sufficient sample size and transaction detail to be statistically reliable.
