2020 Audi RS 3 Review

Overview
Blistering acceleration; Nimble handling; Very good fuel economy; Standard all-wheel-drive
Snug rearseat space; Steep starting price; Small trunk
Building on the Audi A3 sedan, the Audi RS 3 is the most potent small Audi available, offering unbelievable performance in a compact package. With 400 horsepower on tap and rally-bred Quattro all-wheel-drive, the RS 3 is a thrill to drive. Some rivals offer more rearseat space and a smoother ride. While pricing is steep, the RS 3 has a high-quality interior and a superb blend of handling and acceleration that will leave enthusiasts smiling.
What's New for 2020
Trims and Pricing
The RS 3 has an MSRP of roughly $56,500. The RS 3‘s exterior features 19-inch alloy wheels with a 5-arm-blade layout, high-performance tires, automatic LED headlights with washers, LED taillights with dynamic turn signals, auto-dimming and power-folding side mirrors, and a rear lip spoiler. The standard body kit gives the RS 3 a more aggressive look than either the A3 or S3 sedans, with unique side sills, front and rear fascias, oval exhaust tips, and rear diffuser.
When it comes to technology, the Audi shines. HD radio, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are all standard, as is a driver information screen, a ten-speaker audio system, USB port, Bluetooth streaming audio, keyless entry and ignition, and automatic wipers.
Nappa leather adorns the seats. The front seats are bolstered and heated. Other interior details include 40/40/20 split-folding rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, ambient LED interior lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and illuminated door sill plates. A flat-bottom steering wheel and stainless steel pedal caps add a sporty touch.
Engine and Performance
Under the hood of the Audi RS 3 sits a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine. It’s quite potent, with a peak output of 400 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. Mated to it is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which channels power to all four wheels through a Quattro all-wheel-drive system.
According to Audi, the RS 3 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. The EPA rates fuel consumption at 19/28/23 mpg (city/highway/combined). Those are very competitive numbers for such a high-performance vehicle.
Interior
Audi keeps the interior color scheme for the RS 3 straightforward and elegant. You can get Black Nappa leather upholstery with Rock Gray contrast diamond stitching and perforation, or optional Black Nappa leather with Crescendo Red diamond contrast stitching and perforation. Aluminum Race or Carbon Fiber inlays are available. While the interior materials might not reach the same level as other Audi models, the cabin does feel premium and well-built.
You’ll find the sporty front seats supportive and soft, with large bolsters that make them great to sit in for long periods. The rear seats aren’t quite as comfortable, with legroom and headroom both constrained.
