2024 Audi RS 5 Review

Overview
Rapid acceleration and tenacious handling. Elegant, feature-filled interior. Drivable year-round. More practical than most high-end sports cars.
Limited rear-seat space. High starting price. Some rivals are more visceral to drive.
The Audi RS 5 is the latest in a long line of fun-to-drive and hyper-capable German sedans. Sharing the same fastback sedan and coupe body style options as the Audi A5 it shares a platform with, the RS 5 is powered by a far more potent twin-turbo V6 creating 444 horsepower. Matched with an adaptive suspension and Audi's dependable Quattro AWD system, the RS 5 is fast, nimble, and all-season practical.
What's New for 2024
Trims and Pricing
Audi keeps things simple, building the RS 5 in two body styles and just one trim level. Customers can select from either a gorgeous coupe or sleek four-door Sportback.
RS 5
Pricing for the RS 5 Coupe starts at $78,600, plus a $1,095 destination fee. The Sportback rings in at $78,900. Standard features include a twin-turbo V6 engine, eight-speed automatic transmission, paddle shifters, ventilated disc brakes, all-wheel drive, forward-collision warning, lane-departure alert, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and automatic parking assistance.
The RS 5 also includes automatic LED headlights that turn with the vehicle's steering, rain-sensing wipers, fog lights, power-folding outside mirrors, and a panoramic sunroof. The Sportback adds a power-operated liftgate.
Inside, the RS 5 pampers with luxury and high-tech features. The 12-way power front seats are heated and trimmed in leather, and the Sportback gets heated rear seats. Other details are tri-zone climate control, keyless entry, a heated steering wheel, push-button start, and an auto-dimming mirror. The ambient LED lighting includes 30 unique color options.
Engine and Performance
The RS 5's beating heart is a 2.9-liter V6 engine connected to dual turbochargers. It generates 444 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque, which is good enough to accelerate the RS 5 from 0-60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. The RS 5's top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.
The V6 is matched to an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission with aluminum shift paddles behind the steering wheel. The standard all-wheel-drive system sends extra power to the front or rear axles when more traction is required.
The Audi RS 5 is comfortable enough to drive daily, both quieter and more civilized than most rivals.
Interior
Unlike the Audi A5 and S5, the RS 5 has racing seats with deep side bolsters and honeycomb stitching. Standard heated seats and a heated steering wheel make the RS 5 a desirable companion in lousy weather. The cabin feels solid and well-crafted. The buttons and controls are constructed from quality materials, and the leather is soft.
The infotainment system includes a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, satellite radio, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 10.1-inch display, voice operation, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Audi's infotainment software is easy to use, with a haptic-touch pad on the console that lets users navigate the system like a smartphone.

The Starting Market Average is a proprietary mathematical calculation based on actual recent transactions. It provides a statistically accurate understanding of what other buyers are paying for the least expensive configuration of this vehicle. Adjustments to the calculation beyond make, model, and trim are normalized based on detailed, anonymized transaction information. This accounts for the fact that most or all recently-sold vehicles included different option combinations. The data underlying the Starting Market Average calculation are filtered for extreme outliers and subjected to a weighted averaging process that considers factors such as the recency of transactions and the timing of data lags. In certain instances, the calculated result is adjusted to take account of abrupt changes in the market that may not yet be fully reflected by recent transaction prices. In all cases where the Starting Market Average is shown there is sufficient sample size and transaction detail to be statistically reliable.
