2023 Audi RS Q8 Review

Overview
The Audi RS Q8 proves some SUVs give sport sedans a run for their money. This five-passenger luxury hauler is a high-performance version of the Audi Q8 and packs a 598-horsepower V8 engine. Audi says the SUV moves from zero to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. The RS Q8's responsive handling ups the excitement, and its opulent cabin is a stylish choice for grocery runs and workday commutes.
This Audi has less cargo space than rivals such as the Genesis GV80 and BMW X5. And its gas-chugging V8 won't do you any favors at the pump. But if you can overlook these shortcomings, the RS Q8 will reward you with thrilling times on the road.
Muscular V8 delivers bracing acceleration. Smooth, entertaining handling. Lavishly appointed interior.
Lags the class in fuel economy. Competing models have more room for cargo.
It has less cargo space than key rivals and is thirsty at the pump. But the Audi RS Q8 makes you forget these shortcomings with its exhilarating performance and plush cabin.
What's New for 2023
Trims and Pricing
The 2023 Audi RS Q8 comes in a single, well-appointed trim.
RS Q8
Pricing for the Audi RS Q8 starts at $121,595 (including a $1,195 destination fee). The list of standard exterior equipment includes a power sunroof, 22-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights with washers, rain-sensing windshield wipers, heated power-folding side mirrors with integrated turn signals and memory settings, and a hands-free liftgate. In addition, the cabin is outfitted with leather upholstery, heated front seats, driver's-seat memory settings, keyless entry and ignition, multi-zone climate control, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Audi equips the RS Q8 with tech features such as satellite radio, navigation, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wired Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, a 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo system, Bluetooth connectivity, streaming audio, and Wi-Fi. And this SUV has driver-assist features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, a surround-view camera, forward-collision warning, blind-spot warning, lane-keeping assist, parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic alert.
The options list includes the Black Optic package, which adds high-gloss black exterior elements and distinctive wheels. The Executive package adds dual-pane glass, soft-closing doors, heated rear seats, traffic sign recognition, and a self-parking system. And the Luxury package adds a special headliner and massaging front seats.
Engine and Performance
The Audi RS Q8 has a potent 591-horsepower twin-turbo V8 that helps this SUV sprint from zero to 60 mph in under 4 seconds. It's a superb engine, but the BMW X6 and Porsche Cayenne have optional engines with even more muscle.
This Audi's eight-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly between gears, sending power to all four wheels. Handling is keen and responsive; the RS Q8 is sporty enough to entertain while providing the comfort you value on daily commutes.
Fuel Economy
Interior
The Audi RS Q8 has a stylish cabin with supple leather and premium materials. Heated sport seats keep front passengers comfortable and securely in place during tight turns. The rear seats offer decent comfort, but the SUV's sloping roofline cuts down on second-row headroom.
Audi's RS Q8 provides 30.5 cubic feet of cargo space with all seats in place and 60.7 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. The Genesis GV80 and BMW X5 offer more cargo room.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Safety
Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has performed crash tests on the Audi RS Q8.
Standard equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, automatic emergency braking, and forward-collision warning.
Audi RS Q8 vs. the Competition
The Audi RS Q8 has less cargo space than the Genesis GV80 and is less fuel-efficient than the Porsche Cayenne. Still, if sporty handling and plush accommodations are on your list of must-haves, this accomplished SUV is hard to beat.
