With its unmistakable half-crescent design, the Audi TT delivers worldly charm and polish in a compact sports car. What's New for 2021
Trims and Pricing
The Audi TT comes in one well-equipped trim level. A shopper's main decision comes down to whether a coupe or convertible better suits their lifestyle.
The TT Coupe starts around $50,000, before options. Trimmed in premium Nappa leather, the heated leather front seats have 12-way power adjustment. Automatic climate control, a navigation system, keyless entry, push-button start, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror also come standard. A Bang & Olufsen premium audio system is standard equipment. The TT's flat-bottomed steering wheel is wrapped in fine leather.
Mechanical features include 18-inch alloy wheels, all-season tires, a compact spare tire, four-wheel disc brakes, rain-sensing wipers, automatic LED headlights, and power-folding mirrors. Among Audi's standard driver safety aids are blind-spot monitoring, a backup camera, and parking sensors.
Open-air driving fun comes standard with the TT Roadster, retailing from about $54,000. It adds a power-retractable fabric roof and standard neck-level heating.
Options for the Audi TT include 19-inch wheels with summer tires. Shoppers can select from three cabin leather color combinations.
The most notable optional extra is the S Line Competition Package, which adds performance driving components and unique styling cues to give the Audi a faster and more stealthy appeal.
Engine and Performance
Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, producing 228 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. Audi estimates it will accelerate to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds, on to a top track speed of 130 mph. The TT returns gas mileage of 21/31/26 mpg city/highway/combined in EPA estimates.
The engine mates to a seven-speed S Tronic automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel-drive.
For those wanting more speed and driving performance, Audi makes a separate performance model called the TTS. For ultra-high-performance, check out the TT RS model.
Interior
Audi's signature style and refinement shine through in the TT's cabin environment. It's an enjoyable place, with unique touches that reflect the TT's special place on the automotive landscape. Five large turbine-style air vents dominate the sleek dashboard, each with built-in dials for managing interior temperature and airflow. While most cars come with a dash-mounted infotainment screen that can get in the way of a clear view out the windshield, the TT doesn't have one. Instead, a digital gauge cluster serves all of the cabin's multimedia functions, with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, and a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system.
The interiors of the TT Coupe and TT Roadster feature extended leather elements as standard. Standard sports seats come wrapped in fine Nappa leather, with deep side bolsters that keep passengers in place in tight turns. The rounded gear shifter and flat-bottomed steering wheel add sporty personality aspects to the TT's charming driving dynamics. Front-row space is suitable for the driver and passenger. The Roadster doesn't have a back seat. The Coupe's back row is tiny, too small for tall adults, and only comfortable for short trips.
