2022 Audi TTS Review

Overview
The Audi TT is a sports car beloved for its stylish, good looks and mellow personality, and it has a couple of high-performance variants: the Audi TTS and the Audi TT RS. Of the two, the TTS is less potent, but it's more affordable. Thus, it hits the right note for drivers who want a souped-up version of the TT that won't break the bank.
In the deficit column, Audi's TTS has less power than rivals such as the Porsche 718 Cayman. And don't even think about an adult riding in its tiny rear seat. But if those shortcomings aren't deal-breakers, you'll find the TTS capably equipped to add style and pleasure to daily driving.
Chic, modern cabin. Enjoyable handling. More fuel-efficient than many rivals.
Less powerful than many competitors. Low on cargo space. Tight rear seat.
The Audi TTS is a small luxury sport coupe that's fun to drive and relatively fuel-efficient. However, it doesn't provide much utility, and rival models have more power.
What's New for 2022
Trims and Pricing
The Audi TTS comes in a single trim: the TTS 2.0T with a bevy of attractive amenities.
2.0T
Pricing for the TTS 2.0T kicks off at $61,245. It includes standard exterior features, such as 20-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights, fog lights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and heated power-folding side mirrors. Within the cabin, you'll find leather and premium synthetic upholstery, heated front seats with 12-way power-adjustability, proximity keyless entry, keyless ignition, automatic climate control, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
There's also a generous selection of audio and tech features. The list includes satellite radio, a nine-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo, Bluetooth connectivity, and navigation. And on the safety front, all models come with blind-spot monitoring, as well as front and rear parking sensors.
The TTS also offers stand-alone options and some attractive option packages. A Black Optic package ($900) adds black exterior trim, summer performance tires, and red brake calipers. The Competition package ($2,200) brings in a rear wing spoiler, distinct carbon-fiber inlays, and a unique steering wheel. And the Bronze package ($1,250) is new for 2022. It adds features such as copper-stitched leather and bronze-colored interior accents.
Engine and Performance
The Audi TTS comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 288 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Compared to the Audi TT, it has 60 more hp and 22 more lb-ft of torque.
But even though it's more potent than the TT, the TTS has less horsepower than competing cars. The BMW Z4, Jaguar F-Type, and Porsche 718 Cayman have more muscle under the hood.
A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels. Unfortunately, a manual transmission isn't available. With the 718 Cayman, you can choose between a manual gearbox and a seven-speed automatic.
Its keen reflexes and smooth handling make the TTS a delightful car to drive. However, the 718 Cayman is a better choice if you're looking for the most athletic performance.
Fuel Economy
Interior
The Audi TTS coupe's cabin accommodates four people. There's a reasonable amount of space in the front row, but the rear seats are best left for cargo.
This Audi's cabin looks sporty and modern. The materials are first-rate, and the design is appealing. Still, rivals such as the Jaguar F-Type coupe provide interiors that rate higher when it comes to luxury.
The TTS has 12 cubic feet of cargo space, making it less capable than the F-Type coupe (14.4 cubic feet).
Infotainment and Connectivity
Unlike most modern cars, the Audi TTS doesn't have an infotainment screen on the dash. Instead, it has a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster that connects you to all its infotainment features. A dial and touchpad located on the center console govern the interface. For comparison, the Porsche 718 Cayman comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system.
Audi equips the TTS with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone connectivity, Bluetooth phone and streaming audio, in-dash navigation, and a premium nine-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo.
Safety
The 2022 Audi TTS hasn't been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). And it hasn't been evaluated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Keep in mind that these organizations don't typically test high-performance variants such as the TTS.
Audi's TTS comes with just blind-spot monitoring and parking sensors by way of driver-assistive amenities. The Jaguar F-Type boasts a broader range of standard and available driver-assistive features, including forward-collision mitigation, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring.
Audi TTS vs. the Competition
The Porsche 718 Cayman is sportier and more potent than the TTS, and the Jaguar F-Type is more deluxe. But Audi's TTS is a desirable pick, with good fuel economy, gorgeous design, and agreeable driving dynamics.
