2021 Chevrolet Express Passenger Review

Overview
Refined and smooth V8 engine; Truck-like platform and towing; Enormous interior; Classic body styling
Outdated cabin technology; Subpar fuel economy; Heavy handling; No all-wheel-drive system
Those needing maximum passenger space will be hard-pressed to find a better solution than the Chevrolet Express Passenger, a full-size commercial van ready to carry up to 15 people. That's nearly twice the seating of a minivan or large SUV, making the Express a go-to choice of hotels and shuttle services. The cargo area is large enough to haul a crowd's luggage, and the seats can be removed to turn the van into a delivery vehicle.

Trims and Pricing
Chevrolet offers shoppers regular and long wheelbases for the Express, plus 2500 or 3500 heavy-duty platforms. Pricing starts at around $37,500 for the base LS trim, with standard 4-wheel disc brakes, steel wheels, seating for 12 people, a backup camera, air conditioning, curtain airbags in all four rows, vinyl upholstery, power windows, and WiFi access.
Moving up to the LT model adds safety features like lane-departure warning and forward-collision warning. An alarm comes included; so do cloth seats, floor mats, remote keyless entry, and cruise control.
Customers can choose the aforementioned extended-wheelbase body for extra cargo capacity or five rows of seating for up to 15 passengers. Instead of a swing-out passenger-side door, a sliding door can be added. Buyers can add a heavy-duty battery, a locking rear differential, side assist steps, satellite radio, power side mirrors, Bluetooth for phone calls, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a USB port, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and a CD player.
Engine and Performance
Standard on the full-size passenger van is a 4.3-liter gas V6 engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission. All Express Vans include rear-wheel drive. The traditional push-rod powertrain generates 276 hp and 298 lb-ft of torque.
For better fuel economy and more towing power, customers can swap in a Duramax 2.6-liter turbo-diesel making 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.
A recently-added 6.6-liter gas V8 is available, shared with the Silverado truck family. Using a 6-speed automatic transmission, this motor provides 401 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque.
