2024 Chevrolet Traverse Limited Review

Overview
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse Limited is one of two similar-sized Chevy SUVs that wear the Traverse name. In a move that’s sure to confuse buyers, Chevy has renamed the original Traverse the Traverse Limited while also offering an all-new 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. Both three-row SUVs fit in the Chevy crossover lineup between the compact Chevrolet Equinox and the full-size Chevrolet Tahoe.
The Chevy Traverse Limited offers buyers exceptional value, with a very spacious cabin and a long list of standard features. It’s a family-friendly midsize crossover with seating for up to eight and more cargo space than the Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, Kia Telluride, or Hyundai Palisade. The big Chevy also features one of the largest engines in this class, a smooth 3.6-liter V6 that produces an impressive 310 horsepower. That gives the Traverse Limited more standard power than any of those key competitors or the Toyota Grand Highlander.
We’re big fans of the Chevy’s easy-to-use infotainment system. Although its available touchscreens aren’t huge, it has standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot. The upscale RS, Premier, and High Country models include adaptive cruise control and have luxurious interiors. Overall, the ChevyTraverse Limited is value-packed and an excellent choice for buyers who don’t need all the latest gizmos in their three-row SUV.
Plenty of interior space for people and cargo. Good power and fuel economy. Easy-to-use infotainment system.
Some rivals have better third-row access and larger touchscreens.
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse Limited is an ideal family SUV with impressive space, performance, and features.
What's New for 2024
Trims and Pricing
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse Limited is available in six trim levels: LS, LT Cloth, LT Leather, RS, Premier, and High Country. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available on every trim. Our pick for the best value and features is the LT Leather. We'll explain why below.
LS
The LS is the entry-level model, starting at $35,915 (including $1,395 destination). It comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, a backup camera, tinted glass, LED headlights, heated power-adjustable exterior mirrors, proximity keyless unlock, keyless start, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and USB ports in all three rows.
LT Cloth
The LT Cloth ($38,440) adds an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat with lumbar control, second-row captain's chairs (reducing seating capacity to seven), a leather-wrapped steering wheel, roof rails, and the availability of a sunroof and a power-operated liftgate. The standard safety package includes rear park assist, lane-change alert with side blind-spot alert, and rear cross-traffic alert.
LT Leather
The LT Leather ($41,865) has the best combination of features for the price. Not only does it have leather seats, it also has a larger 8-inch touchscreen, a programmable rear liftgate, a six-way power-adjustable passenger seat, a universal home remote, wireless phone charging, and a 4.2-inch driver information display.
RS
Shoppers looking to add sportiness should consider the RS model. The RS ($46,440) adds blacked-out exterior accents, including 20-inch dark aluminum wheels, black trim, and active aero shutters. It also has a standard power liftgate, 120-volt power outlet, adaptive cruise control, and a premium 10-speaker Bose audio system.
Premier
The Premier ($48,595) trades the sporty appearance of the RS for more luxury. Dual exhaust outlets and 20-inch machined aluminum wheels are among the exterior highlights. The Premier has soft, perforated leather seating in the first and second rows. An 8-inch color driver information center highlights the interior upgrades. Auto-dimming mirrors, chrome body accents, a motion-activated rear liftgate, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering column, a surround-view camera, and navigation are also offered.
High Country
The top-of-the-line High Country ($53,395) is filled with upgrades. Included are perforated-leather seats, 20-inch polished wheels, a Bose premium audio system, a panoramic sunroof, and power-folding third-row seats. A surround-view monitor, heavy-duty cooling, hitch guidance with hitch view, and a trailering package are standard.
Engine and Performance
Fuel Economy
This Chevy’s fuel economy is about average for its class. The Environmental Protection Agency says the front-wheel-drive 2024 Traverse Limited will deliver an estimated 18 mpg during city driving and 27 mpg on the highway. All-wheel drive lowers the estimates by 1 mpg in combined city/highway driving.
The Honda Pilot is rated higher in city driving. The Toyota Grand Highlander is estimated to achieve 20-21 mpg in city driving and 26-28 mpg on the highway with the base four-cylinder gas turbo engine. With front-wheel drive, the V6-powered Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade are rated at 20/26 mpg city/highway.
Interior
The Chevrolet Traverse Limited is one of the roomiest crossovers in the midsize segment. Many of its competitors, including the Ford Explorer, have less passenger and cargo space. The Chevy has a roomy 23 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third row and a whopping 98.2 cubic feet with its second and third rows folded flat. The rival Kia Telluride offers 17 cubic feet of space and 87 cubic feet with the third row folded down.
For hauling a lot of people and stuff in a midsize SUV, the Traverse Limited is an excellent choice. It provides plenty of headroom and legroom in the second row and a child-friendly third row. The second-row seats slide back and forth for additional versatility and convenience, but third-row access could be better.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Chevrolet's infotainment systems are among the easiest to use in the industry, rivaling the Uconnect systems from Dodge and Jeep. The Traverse Limited's 7- and 8-inch touchscreens have large, easy-to-identify icons. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on every trim. RS, Premier, and High Country trims get a standard 8-inch touchscreen system with integral navigation. That combination is also available on the LT Leather trim.
Some vehicles in the class have larger display screens. If size matters to you, the Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen.
All Traverse Limited models can connect up to seven devices to the built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. The standard Teen Driver system lets parents set controls and review their teen's driving habits. The 10-speaker Bose audio system has a subwoofer in the center console, providing impressive sound quality. It is standard on RS, Premier, and High Country and offered as an option on the LT Leather trim.
Safety
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse Limited has not been rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but the identical 2023 Chevy Traverse received a rating of four out of five stars. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not rated the Traverse Limited, but the identical 2022 Traverse received top Good ratings in six of eight crashworthiness categories.
The Chevrolet Traverse Limited offers a long list of safety and driver-assist features. The Chevy Safety Assist package is available on the LS and is standard on all of the higher-level trims. It includes rear parking assist, lane-change alert with side blind-spot alert, and rear cross-traffic alert. Adaptive cruise control and enhanced automatic emergency braking are standard on the RS, Premier, and High Country. Both systems are available on the LT Leather trim. The Traverse Limited has available high-definition surround-view cameras and a rear camera mirror to aid parking.
Chevrolet Traverse Limited vs. the Competition
On the strength of its roomy interior, robust standard horsepower, and wide range of trims, the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse Limited will suit many buyers. The Traverse Limited isn't the flashiest vehicle in the segment, but it delivers plenty of interior room and versatility. Similarly sized options include the Volkswagen Atlas and Honda Pilot. If you're looking for a sportier model, the smaller Ford Explorer ST, with its 400-horsepower turbocharged V6, is an excellent choice.

The Starting Market Average is a proprietary mathematical calculation based on actual recent transactions. It provides a statistically accurate understanding of what other buyers are paying for the least expensive configuration of this vehicle. Adjustments to the calculation beyond make, model, and trim are normalized based on detailed, anonymized transaction information. This accounts for the fact that most or all recently-sold vehicles included different option combinations. The data underlying the Starting Market Average calculation are filtered for extreme outliers and subjected to a weighted averaging process that considers factors such as the recency of transactions and the timing of data lags. In certain instances, the calculated result is adjusted to take account of abrupt changes in the market that may not yet be fully reflected by recent transaction prices. In all cases where the Starting Market Average is shown there is sufficient sample size and transaction detail to be statistically reliable.
