2019 Ford F-150 Review

Overview
Exceptional towing and payload capacity; Raptor is amongst the best available off-road vehicles in the segment; Large amount of options for customization; Segment leading technology features available
Tight backseat in SuperCab; Upper trims lack the opulence of some comparable models; Several rivals are of a newer design
The Ford F-150 is one of the most popular production vehicles in the world, and for good reason. The F-150 is a full-size pickup truck with a great blend of durability, interior comfort, convenience features, and available trims. Launching in 1975, the F-150 has been a best-seller for Ford ever since with the eighth generation of the truck having arrived in 2015.
What's New for 2019
Trims and Pricing
Shoppers can get the F-150 in regular cab, Supercab, and Supercrew, with a 5.5-foot, 6.5-foot, or 8-foot bed. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but four-wheel drive can be added to any configuration. Five trim levels are available: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, and Raptor.
Standard features on the XL include 17-inch steel wheels, cloth upholstery, air conditioning, 60/40 split rear seats for all but regular cabs, a 40/20/40 split front bench seat, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, manual locks, manual windows, and a sound system with four to six speakers (depending on cab size) and a 4.2-inch screen. Prices for the XL begin around $28,200 and go up from there depending on drivetrain and body style.
Going with the XLT adds features like daytime running lights, automatic headlights, power windows, power side mirrors, power locks, keyless entry, cruise control, 4.2-inch driver information screen, Sync voice commands, smartphone integration, Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, and an auxiliary audio input jack. Prices on the XLT start at about $34,200.
The Lariat comes with everything on the XLT, plus a powered rear window, remote engine start, LED lighting for the bed, rear parking sensors, heated and powered front seats, 110-volt power outlets, and MyFord Touch system with an 8-inch touchscreen. The Lariat’s starting price is about $42,200.
The King Ranch, Limited, and Platinum come with all of the standard and optional equipment on the Lariat, plus upgraded interior materials and trims. The King Ranch has a more western appearance, while the Platinum's interior is more modern. The Limited adds even more safety features such as adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera. King Ranch pricing begins at roughly $52,400. The Platinum starts around $55,000. And the top-shelf Limited trim price starts at roughly $67,200.
The Raptor takes the F-150 in an entirely different direction. With its aggressive styling and wide stance, there is no mistaking the Raptor for any other F-150. Thanks to its high performance off-road suspension, the Raptor is ready to tackle any terrain. The Raptor’s price starts at about $52,900.
Engine and Performance
Interior
The interior of the F-150 changes dramatically as one goes up the trim levels. The XL is meant to be a sturdy work truck, with a simple and no-frills interior. Meanwhile, the top-rung King Ranch and Platinum trims’ interiors could be mistaken for those of a luxury SUV. A number of interior color and trim material choices afford shoppers a great deal of customization.
The seats are comfortable, and in the SuperCrew there's ample room in both rows. The SuperCab’s backseat is a bit more cramped and is best for shorter people or shorter trips.
The center stack contains quite a few physical controls, which take practice to navigate. The gauge cluster and infotainment screen aren't as complex. Interior materials increase in quality with the upper trim levels, but a high level of fit and finish is apparent across all models.
