Trims and Pricing
Both the hatchback and sedan formats of the Fiesta are available in three separate trim levels. S models come with several pieces of standard equipment like power locks, power side mirrors, 15-inch steel wheels, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, air conditioning and a sound system with four speakers and an auxiliary input jack. A Convenience package adds a CD player and keyless entry. The SE builds on the S and its Convenience package, adding features like power windows, rear wiper on the hatchback, heated side mirrors, upgraded cloth upholstery, trip computer, cruise control and a sound system with six speakers. A Sync Elements package comes with Bluetooth connectivity, iPod and USB interface, app-based services and voice controls. A Moon & Mood package adds further to the car’s equipment with things like ambient lighting, sunroof, satellite radio and a leather wrapped shift knob. Another SE options package is called Appearance. The package comes with LED running lights, 15-inch alloy wheels, leather wrapped steering wheel, rear spoiler for sedans and ambient lighting. The SFE package adds more aerodynamic body panels, low-drag wheels and low resistance tires. Buyers can also opt for the heated front seat as a lone option. Titanium models come with everything the SE has standard, plus the Appearance package. Adding on to that, Titanium models come with 16-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, chrome trim on the exterior, keyless entry and ignition, heated front seats and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. A sunroof is available as an option. A Black Sport Appearance package adds black trim pieces to the vehicle’s exterior. Race Red and Arctic White Interior Style Packages add stylized trim pieces to the interior. A Fiesta comes with a factory invoice of about $14,600 for an S model and an MSRP of about $15,000. The SE trim level adds about $3,000 to the vehicle’s MSRP. Titanium models add another $2,000 to the MSRP. Engine and Performance
The same engine comes on all Ford Fiestas, a 1.6-liter four cylinder capable of producing up to 120 horsepower and 111 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel-drive in standard along with a five-speed manual transmission, but a six-speed automated manual is available as an option. The EPA estimates fuel economy for the Ford Fiesta to be 29 mpg in city driving, 39 mpg in highway driving and 33 mpg in combined driving. Fiestas outfitted with the SFE or Super Fuel Economy package achieve 40 mpg on the highway, with the other fuel mileage estimates the same.
Interior
Those expecting a cheap interior because the Fiesta is an economy car will be quite surprised. Surfaces inside the car are not hard plastic like in many competing vehicles, but rather are soft and texturized like what you would find in much more expensive vehicles. The interior color can either be all dark grey, a two-tone with dark grey and beige or with colorful accents. The overall layout of the gauges and controls scream modern and hip, helping drivers feel like they are not driving a mini version of mom’s car. The control layout is not horribly intuitive, making the Sync voice controls a nice feature to use. Speaking of Sync, the system allows more than just voice commands. It also gives turn-by-turn driving directions so you do not have to look at a navigation screen. If necessary, the driver can also call 911 hands-free using the system, which comes in handy during an emergency. Interior space is not humongous considering the Fiesta is a subcompact car, but it is ample enough for the segment. Taller passengers will feel cramped in the back seats, but sitting in the front provides enough room for most adults. The sedan’s trunk comes with 12.8 cubic feet of cargo room, making it one of the bigger trunks in its class. Unfortunately the hatchback’s cargo area is actually slightly smaller. With the rear seats folded down, total cargo capacity measures 26 cubic feet, which is only decent for its class.
