A 301A option package comes with a blind spot warning system, power adjustable steering wheel, Sony sound system with 12 speakers, auto dimming driver’s side mirror, HD radio, cross traffic alert system and front seats that are both heated and ventilated. A 302A option package adds automatic high beams, an automated parking system, heated steering wheel, heated backseat and a rear sunshade. Stand-alone options include adaptive cruise control, collision warning with brake support, 20-inch wheels, sunroof, navigation and font seats with massage function. The performance-oriented SHO models come with the same standard equipment as the Limited, plus all-wheel-drive, a sport tuned suspension, steering wheel mounted paddle shifters, performance tuned steering, leather upholstery with faux suede inserts and xenon headlights. Engine and Performance
The standard engine on the Ford Taurus is a 3.5-liter V6 that produces a peak 290 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission comes standard along with front-wheel-drive. SEL and Limited models can come with optional all-wheel-drive. The EPA estimates fuel economy at 19 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highway and 23 mpg in combined driving with front-wheel-drive. Adding all-wheel-drive drops those estimates to 18 mpg city, 26 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined. There is an optional turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder engine that produces 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. The engine also works with the six-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy estimates come in at an impressive 32 mpg on the highway and 26 mpg in combined driving. SHO models come with a high-powered 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 that blasts out 365 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels. An automatic six-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted shifter paddles comes standard. EPA fuel economy is estimated at 17 mpg in the city, 25 mpg on the highway and 20 mpg combined.
Interior
The interior of the Taurus comes in either all black with silver accent pieces or two-tone scheme with colors like black, cream or beige and optional wood grain trim pieces. The gauge cluster and center stack layouts look modern and clean, especially with the MyFord Touch system installed since it comes with a classy-looking touchscreen at the top of the center stack and two digital screens in the gauge cluster. Drivers can see a variety of information on the digital screens, including tips on driving with greater fuel efficiency. Interior space is excellent, both in the front and rear seats. The optional heated, cooled and massaging front seats are especially comfortable. Trunk space measures 20.1 cubic feet, which is frankly huge and far larger than on most competing vehicles.
