What's New for 2020
Trims and Pricing
The Transit comes in many configurations, allowing shoppers to choose the setup that’s right for them. That includes body length, roof height, rear- or all-wheel-drive, and engine type.
With all of these details, the standard features list keeps things simple, staying reasonably consistent across the lineup. Prices for the Transit start at about $35,000. Key exterior features include 16-inch wheels, a full-size spare, a four-ton jack, manual-folding power mirrors, 50/50 rear-hinged doors, tinted glass windows, rain-sensing wipers, and a rearview camera with trailer hitch assist. Interior details include remote keyless entry, interior lighting, a medium center console with cupholders, vinyl first-row flooring, heavy-duty cargo flooring, a locking glove box, Ford Telematics, sun visors, a 12V power outlet, cargo tie-down hooks, and a single-note electric horn.
Driver safety features like forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, and post-collision braking all come standard on the Transit.
Engine and Performance
The Ford Transit comes standard with an independent front suspension, which helps the van corner with agility. Side-wind stabilization technology and AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control are standard. The Transit has power rack and pinion steering. All-wheel drive is an option, as is a trailer brake controller, Enhanced Active Park Assist, and more.
Power comes from a 3.5-liter V6 engine, which makes 275 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. A 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 is available. It is twin-turbocharged and has power ratings of 310 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque –big numbers for a cargo van. The Transit uses a 10-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift technology. A 25-gallon fuel tank is standard, thought an available extended range fuel system offers 31 gallons of capacity.
Interior
The interior of the Transit Cargo Van is straightforward, modern, and comfortable. The front seating is spacious, with plenty of storage cubbies and a locking glove compartment. The center-stack-mounted gear shifter sits next to the cupholders and is very easy to access. That also opens up legroom for the front occupants.
The Ford Sync infotainment system is easy to use, as are the other controls. The cargo area is enormous, especially in long-wheelbase variants. There are plenty of cargo tie-down points, which make it easy to haul bulky items. And the heavy-duty flooring is durable.
