2021 Ford Transit Crew Van Review

Overview
The Transit Crew Van offers unrivaled flexibility for businesses of all sizes. The large van includes two rows of seating and a huge cargo area, giving it the ability to carry a crew of workers and tons of equipment or items for delivery. The interior can be configured to meet owners’ needs. Customers can upfit it with custom shelves, rack systems, and more.
The Transit also has exceptional refinement for a large van, with a more comfortable and modern cabin than most rivals. Ford’s available safety technology is quite advanced and very intuitive. Somewhere between a cargo van and a passenger van, the Transit Crew Van is one of the most versatile choices in its segment.
Quiet and comfortable interior. Impressive driver-assistance features. Vast cargo space. Many options for configuration.
Lacks rivals’ off-road abilities. Pricier than a standard cargo van. Optional engine runs on premium fuel.
Commercial and fleet customers needing a heavy-duty solution for carrying people and cargo should check out the Ford Transit Crew Van. The full-size Transit offers a heavy-duty platform with seating for five plus a vast cargo bay. What's New for 2021
Trims and Pricing
With 32 possible configurations, the Ford Transit Crew Van provides shoppers with plenty of options to meet their needs. It comes in light- and heavy-duty platforms and all-wheel drive is available for getting through inclement weather. Other considerations are extended body lengths, a tall roof, and dual rear wheels.
Pricing ranges from around $37,500 to $53,000 before options. The Transit includes Hill Start Assist, disc brakes, steel wheels, a full-size spare tire, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, a backup camera, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, running boards, vinyl seating, keyless entry, air conditioning, a WiFi hotspot, and a 4-inch infotainment screen with Bluetooth.
Like its Transit Cargo Van and Passenger Van siblings, the Transit Crew offers many optional features, helping buyers outfit the vehicle to meet their specific needs. You can upgrade the vinyl seating to premium cloth, and heated front seats are optional. Alloy wheels, remote start, HID headlamps, navigation, and a larger center console are available. Ford provides a range of advanced safety aids, like blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control. The Transit’s also offered with heavy-duty trailering and RV prep packages.
Engine and Performance
Ford’s standard engine is a 3.5-liter V6 producing 275 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. It’s a smooth and refined powertrain, sending power through a 10-speed automatic transmission. Buyers get the option of rear- or all-wheel drive. It offers a max payload of over two tons.
Optional is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost turbocharged V6. Most drivers won’t need it, but the extra power gives the Transit more authoritative acceleration and hauling strength. It produces an impressive 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Despite the gains, this engine does need premium fuel, making it more expensive to run.
Interior
Compared to other heavy-duty vans, the Transit Crew is one of the most refined and sophisticated choices on the market. Its passenger section offers great standard technology and comfortable seats. Ford includes excellent in-cabin storage, with numerous cup holders and small-item trays. It makes the Transit easy to live with and drive daily, and those sitting in the back also have great space for stretching out on long trips. Ford also offers some of the best optional infotainment features in its class.
The Transit’s cargo area is vast and very configurable. Customers can use a third-party provider to outfit the interior with solutions for a range of industries. Ford also offers great in-house options for making the Transit a great hauler, towing machine, or RV.
