What's New for 2025

The 2025 Nissan Murano is available in three trim levels: SV, SL, and Platinum. All-wheel drive is optional on the SV and standard on the rest of the lineup. While the SV is historically the popular trim level, we recommend the SL. We'll explain why below.

SV

With a starting price of $41,860 (including a $1,390 destination fee), the Murano SV comes standard with imitation leather seat trim, heated power-adjustable front seats, automatic dual-zone climate control, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, six-speaker audio system, front and rear USB-C ports, active noise cancellation, push-button start, and 20-inch alloy wheels. All-wheel drive is available for an additional $1,000.

The SV also comes with a range of advanced driver-assist features that include automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning and intervention, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, rear automatic braking, rearview camera, traffic sign recognition, and post-collision hazard warning.

SL

Priced at $47,950, the SL upgrades the SV with a heated steering wheel, acoustic dampening, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose premium audio system with ten speakers, Google-based infotainment system, Alexa built-in, Wi-Fi hotspot, ambient LED lighting, all-around view monitor, and ProPILOT Assist 1.1. With its upgraded Google-based infotainment, premium audio, and other added features, the SL is our top choice in the Murano lineup.

Platinum

The top-of-the-line Platinum ($50,990) adds semi-aniline leather seats with heating, ventilation, and massage; heated rear seats; power-tilt steering wheel; power-folding mirrors; rain-sensing wipers; head-up display; motion-activated power liftgate, and 21-inch alloy wheels.

All versions of the 2025 Nissan Murano are powered by a 2.0-liter Variable Compression Turbo (VC-Turbo) engine, putting out 241 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. That's slightly less horsepower than the previous version's V6, but the new nine-speed automatic transmission is much more responsive than the outgoing CVT. The Honda Passport's standard engine puts out more power, as does the optional powertrain on the Chevrolet Blazer.

Acceleration is reasonably quick, and the available power is more than adequate for most driving situations. Passing slower vehicles on two-lane roads is easily done, and the Murano quickly gets up to highway speeds.

However, the new Murano is a few hundred pounds heavier than its predecessor, and that extra mass is noticeable when pushing the crossover on a winding road. It looks like it should be more agile based on its size, but it feels heavy. That said, the extra heft translates to a solid, comfortable ride while cruising on the freeway.

The new Murano may have a unique exterior style, but inside, it feels typically modern with clean lines. This look is enhanced by the large horizontal screen incorporating the driver and infotainment displays. Physical controls are almost completely gone, except for a volume knob in the center of the dashboard. However, there are separate controls for climate functions. Like in the Nissan Ariya, the haptic controls are integrated into the wood trim below the central display, disappearing when the engine is off.

There's good storage throughout the cabin with large cupholders, a small bin, and a wireless phone charger, all within easy reach of the driver. An open space below the center console is ideal for holding a large bag or purse, and added space can be found beneath the center armrest.

Front seats make use of Nissan's Zero Gravity technology, which makes them very comfortable for long periods of time. Seats are stylish — especially in the top-level Platinum — and the available seat massager is a nice addition.

Second-row passengers will find comfortable surroundings with available heated outboard seats and good visibility, especially with the panoramic sunroof. The 36.3 inches of rear seat legroom feels roomy, but it's considerably less than the Honda Passport and Mazda CX-50.

The new Murano provides 32.9 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats in place, more than enough room for a few pieces of luggage. With the seats folded, the space expands to 63.5 cu-ft — plenty of space, but still quite a bit less than the Passport.

For the 2025 model year, Nissan updated the Murano SL and Platinum with a new Google-based infotainment system. The 12.3-inch screen is easy to read with intuitive navigation, and the system features Google Maps as its native navigation system. Google Assistant provides natural voice interaction, and owners can download additional apps like Waze or Spotify via the Google Play Store.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all trim levels with a wireless connection. Higher trims also get a Wi-Fi hotspot, Alexa integration, and a premium 10-speaker Bose Series audio system with Engine Harmonic Cancellation.

The rival Honda Passport offers only an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, but includes wireless CarPlay and Android Auto.

Neither the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS nor the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA have released crashworthy data for the 2025 Nissan Murano.

All variants of the 2025 Nissan Murano come with an extensive list of advanced driver-assist features, including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning and intervention, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, rear automatic braking, rearview camera, traffic sign recognition, and post-collision hazard warning.

With its complete redesign for the 2025 model year, the Nissan Murano has a lot to offer to the five-passenger crossover shopper. Its new 241-horsepower VC-Turbo engine offers good performance; however, the Honda Passport gets a more powerful 280-hp engine along with standard all-wheel drive. The Murano is larger than the Passport and Chevrolet Blazer, so it's surprising that the Murano has less rear-seat legroom than the Honda or Chevy. The Mazda CX-50 also beats the Murano in the same measure, but the Mazda has less cargo space than the Nissan.
