2019 Toyota Prius Prime Review

Overview
If you want a hybrid car, but aren't sure about giving up certain luxuries, the Toyota Prius Prime could be the perfect fit. It offers up excellent fuel economy, plus the ability to drive on just electricity, so in-town runs might not require any gasoline at all. The car also drives so well that you might forget its economical streak. It's something you should definitely test-drive if you're in the market for a hybrid car.
Excellent fuel economy; Comfy ride; Reasonably priced; Lots of standard safety features

Trims and Pricing
Toyota likes to keep things simple, and the Prius Prime doesn’t buck this trend. It only offers three trim levels, called Plus, Premium, and Advanced. You get a fair amount of standard features on the Plus, starting with quad-LED projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, heated side mirrors, 15-inch alloy wheels, and illuminated charge port. On the inside, the car comes with air conditioning, a 7-inch full color infotainment touchscreen, CD player with 6 speakers, an Entune App Suite, a backup camera, a 4.2-inch driver information display, cloth upholstery, heated front seats, Smart Key System, power windows, power locks, two 12V power outlets, and a charging cable for standard electrical outlets. Opting for the Premium trim adds auto-leveling headlights, an 11.6-inch touchscreen, Predictive Efficient Drive system, SofTex (simulated leather) upholstery, and a wireless charging pad for devices. Step up to the top-tier Prius Prime Advanced and enjoy LED accent lights, rain sensing wipers, 10 JBL GreenEdge speakers, a heated steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a HomeLink universal garage door opener, and a heavy tonneau cover for the cargo area. The Prius Prime comes with a factory invoice of about $28,000 for the Plus model with an MSRP of about $29,000. The Premium costs about $1,600 more, and the Advanced tacks on about $5,000 on top of that. Because you're a member, you can go to your Certified Dealer with confidence, knowing you'll get a great price right up front that will help you save money.
Engine and Performance
Interior
Inside, the all-black color scheme feels sophisticated, and marked improvement from the standard Prius. It is more like what one would find on more upscale Toyota models like the Highlander or Avalon. Extra interior insulation greatly dampens road noise, even at freeway speeds – another departure from the mainstream Prius models. Both front and rearseat passengers enjoy excellent seating comfort, thanks to contoured seat cushions. Both rows feature ample center consoles complete with cupholders and covered storage. Overall space is ample, and even taller adults will have space in the rear seat. There are few physical controls, all of which are large and easy to locate. The touchsreen is large enough to easily read, helped by easy-to-navigate menus.
