2018 Volvo S60 Cross Country Review

Overview
There's no denying that the Volvo S60 Cross Country is a different kind of car, something people might even call weird. While certain vehicle shoppers might wonder why such a thing exists, it can be a pretty incredible form of transportation for others. While it's certainly not a hardcore off-road machine, it can traverse through some deeply rutted roads and wade through water that's a little deeper than what one would normally be able to handle in a sedan. Of course, to have that kind of utility handling has been diminished some, but it still outshines crossovers in that respect. In other words, if you are looking for a vehicle that supports an active lifestyle and is a little different, the S60 Cross Country is an excellent option to check out.
Top competing vehicles are the Audi Allroad, Subaru Legacy and Acura TLX.
A unique, rugged all-weather sedan; Volvo safety features throughout; Luxurious interior
Regular S60 handles better for less
The Volvo S60 Cross Country is a midsize sedan aimed at people looking for a different take on all-weather luxury. Completely new for the 2015 model year, it's based on the S60 sedan but has been lifted by 2.6 inches, improving ground clearance and visibility. For those needing lots of cargo space in essentially the same package, there is also a wagon equivalent available, called the V60 Cross Country. Competing cars include the Audi Allroad, Subaru Legacy, and Acura TLX.

Trims and Pricing
Volvo makes the S60 Cross Country in just one trim level. Needless to say, it’s loaded. Among the standard features are 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, LED running lights, heated side mirrors, headlight washers, automatic wipers, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, driver memory settings, power-folding rear seat headrests, T-Tec cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, a 7-inch infotainment screen, smartphone integration, mobile WiFi, Bluetooth connectivity and a sound system with eight speakers, HD radio, CD player, satellite radio and an auxiliary input jack. Options are few. Heated seats and heated steering wheel, a suite of driver aids, real wood inlays, and 19” matte black wheels are all that is available.
An S60 Cross Country comes with a factory invoice of about $45,000 and an MSRP of about $47,000. Of course, you can expect that your status as a member means any Certified Dealer will provide a straightforward price offer on any vehicle you want to purchase, without having to go through the hassles normally associated with car shopping.
Engine and Performance
Interior
Anyone who's familiar with modern Volvos will feel right at home inside the S60 Cross Country. Like its non-lifted sedan sibling, the regular S60, it has a simple layout that makes driving it a pleasure. Physical controls are minimal and intuitive, while the gauge cluster is also user-friendly. The infotainment system is reasonably easy to use was well. Volvo uses some excellent materials throughout the interior, with plenty of soft-touch surfaces and nice textures. Craftsmanship is also quite high, meaning there are small seams between different components and everything feels quite well put together. That solid construction also means that the occupant space is well insulated from road noise, making it a pleasant place to be for longer trips. As if the case with other Volvos, the S60 Cross Country has some of the most comfortable seats on the market today, including in the rear. Taller adults can easily fit in the front, making the car a practical option to take on trips, but rear legroom is a little tighter for anyone who's above average height. The trunk space is a little on the low end.
